Whenever you need to sit a group of people together for a some kind of particular event or need a fair amount of space to hold numerous items during a social get-together, a banquet table can come in handy. When you hear about banquet tables, you are probably inclined to relate them to the celebration of special occasions like weddings or Christmas. They are indeed used for such festivities but they do also get used in other non-celebratory scenarios.

Allow me to give a few examples. When I attended my karate examination, I noticed that the team of grading instructors sat at a banquet table. When you see those sport press conferences on tv, the athletes being interviewed are probably sitting at a banquet table as well.

In this hub, I’ll introduce the different kinds of banquet tables you can get and hopefully by the end of it, you’ll be able to make a better decision as to what table is more suitable for your needs.

Folding Banquet Tables

The most common feature of banquet tables is that they can fold. The intention behind this is to recognize that the majority of circumstances in which such tables used are meant to a temporary setup. The folding banquet table allows people to quickly set up prior to the start of an event, take down after an event and neatly store them away without taking too much space.

Basically, the way these tables fold together for storage is that the legs are rotated inward on a hinge mechanism such that they are neatly tucked within the table top. If you obtain fairly lengthy folding banquet tables, for ease of transportation, the table top itself can be folded as well. Palm Springs Outdoor sell portable plastic banquet tables that come with a handle which makes carrying between locations that much easier.

Shape

Banquet tables can come in a number of shapes with the most common ones being rectangular and round.  You could also get serpentine (which is like a quarter of a donut) and half rounded tables. The choice depends on a combination of the purpose and your own preference.

If you are holding a big formal event where guests sit at a table to have their meal, then a round banquet table is appropriate. Round banquet tables are also used in a more casual setting where kids and adults sit around to play board games or do craft projects. The unique feature of the round shape is that the distance between each seated person and the center of the table is equal.

If you are holding a press conference style event or a university examination then a rectangular banquet table is preferred. Another example of using rectangular banquet tables is for those outdoor buffet style dinner parties where you line up trays of food on the tables and people walk around them picking out food they want.

Size

In the case where the banquet tables will be used for sitting a group of people, try and find out the number of people you wish to have per table. You’ll also need to ensure that the room in which you’ll set these tables will accommodate the size of the table you are considering. Take into consideration sufficient spacing from the walls of the room and between tables including space for pulling out chairs.

If you only intend to use a banquet table to place various pieces of items such as trays of food for a home buffet or art tools for a craft session, you’ll need to think about whether the size allows people to conveniently reach the items from their seats.

Height

Banquet tables can come in different heights and the choice will mainly depend on the people using them. If they for a dinner event where people will around them then a dining table height would be expected. If you expect a group of young children to sit around the table getting involved in a crafts project or playing around, then a lower height would be more appropriate. There are banquet tables which have legs that are adjustable in height.

If you are worried about the bland appearance of the banquet tables you encounter in your local shops and online, don’t be. You can easily dress them up with banquet table decorations such as table cloths, runners and other eye catching ornament pieces. Just remember to get the appropriate sizes for the banquet table tablecloths.
