Acne can be a debilitating affliction for those of us that suffer from it. By debilitating, I refer to both physical and emotional, but in majority of cases, it would be the latter. Of course, there are those lucky people that go through life without ever experiencing a single acne related incident. There are then another group of people that are more prone to acne.

For sufferers, their experiences can range in severity. For example, I primarily get pimples on my face and on the rare occasion, on my neck and scalp. I have a friend that has never had a pimple on his face and yet frequently has large cystic acne on his neck and back.

Regardless of how severe your situation is or where your acne appears, I think you can benefit from taking some simple steps, which I’m about to discuss, in order to prevent acne from arising in the first place and help you maintain a clear skin. Let’s now go through some of the tips for clear skin.

Healthy Living

This is something that sounds like common sense and which most people are aware of but still ignore or struggle to adhere to. Therefore, I want to take this opportunity to clearly state it. I strongly encourage you to regularly eat fruits and vegetable. If you want a natural way to help you have clear skin over the long term, this is definitely a strong contributor. Fruits and vegetable helps detoxify your system so you'll be helping your skin by working from the inside.

On the other side of the coin is to avoid eating too much highly processed and greasy food like McDonald’s and KFC. I’m not saying that you have to completely banned from such food. It is fine to indulge once in a while, but excessive intake is obviously bad for the skin, not to mention your overall health.

Another thing that you can do is drink plenty of water everyday. It has been widely recommended that six to eight glasses a day is sufficient to keep your body well hydrated. Finally, exercising regularly does have a positive impact on your skin.

Picking a Pimple

This is pretty straight forward – don’t do it. As much as you want to pick and poke at a pimple because you want to have a clear skin fast, avoid it at all cost. I noticed that a significant amount of chronic acne sufferers are in such a predicament because they repeatedly pick at their pimple, blackheads, etc. Because your hands are oily and likely to carry germs, picking can only lead to spreading of infection and more pimples. On top of this, this kind of undesirable habit can result in scars.

Mental Game

Studies have shown that stress can play a part in worsening your acne situation, so to get clear skin, it is as much a mental game as a physical regime. What ever you are going through in life, remaining calm and upbeat will be of help - positive mental attitude. I’m not suggesting you should be a robot and be detached of any emotion. I’m saying you should be conscious of your stress levels and manage it.

If you do end up having a pimple, you should be even more diligent to stop yourself from stressing. Staring into the mirror at your zit will not make you feel any better. When you go out, keep in mind the fact that no one is physically perfect and don’t be too self-conscious of your pimple.

Skin Care Products

Before you purchase and apply any skin care products or cosmetics, you should know your skin type and be aware of any skin allergies you might have. If you don’t thoroughly check the ingredients contained within a product and knowing how it'll affect your skin, you won’t know whether you might react badly to it and end up compounding the problem.

To know how to get clear skin involves reading information from reliable sources and speaking to medical professionals specializing in this field – i.e. dermatologists. I also find it helpful to talk with others going through the same problems. It's possible they may have already tried a product or procedure you are considering. Those that share the same skin type as you may have a daily routine that has worked well for them so you might be able to follow the step and replicate the results. I sincerely hope that the above clear skin tips have been of use to you.
