It is not uncommon to find yourself with an overwhelming amount of stuff in need of storage and organization. Whether this is the case in your office or home, if you feel you need a workable solution for your storage requirements then a plastic bin may be just right for you.

Plastic bins are used in all sorts of settings including personal, commercial and industrial. They can come in different colors, sizes, features and designs, some of which I will describe in this hub.

Why Plastic Bins In The First Place?

You’re probably wondering as to the reason behind the widespread usage of this storage solution. The main reasons are that they are quite affordable compared to other types of material and yet are durable and versatile enough to meet most people’s storage needs. Also, generally they turn out to be suitable as permanent storages not just for transient use.

Generally, plastic storage bins are made from a high density plastic (polyethelyene) and the good quality ones are constructed such that they are strong and waterproof, which prevents rusting and corrosion, hence lasting longer.

Different Sizes

As I’ve indicated before, plastic bins are used in various sectors where the different purposes will require different sized bins. For example, an electronics component manufacturer would likely have several tiny items such as transistors and resistors, and hence need small plastic bins. On the other hand, a manufacturer that produces power tools that are bulky would need large plastic bins that are more heavy duty instead.

Stackable plastic bins

A very common feature of plastic bins is that they can stack on top of one another. This contributes to the efficient use of space. This variety of plastic bins is specially designed to be stable when stacked and not slide or shift. When you end up with several bins stacked up, it might become less convenient to identify the contents in each bin. This is resolved by label slots in the front and the option for clear plastic windows to be added.

Plastic Recycling Bins

With recycling being more and more critical than ever before, there should be an economical solution. Separate out your recyclable waste and other disposable items with a plastic recycle bin. You can get small bins for your office to throw paper waste or large bins for your home to throw away cans and bottles. There is the option of buying these bins with or without lids depending on your personal preference. For example, in the case of disposing waste that don't decompose, some people may find it more convenient to use a bin without a lid.

Clear Plastic Storage Bins

When it comes to the color selection for you plastic bin, there are many. Of course you can easily get the typical colors like white, black, red, blue and yellow. You can categorize your items for storage with some form of color coding scheme. Other method of identifying the contents of your bins is to get yourself a clear plastic storage bin. With one glance, you can quickly find what you need.

Plastic Shelf Bins

If stackable plastic storage bins do not quite meet your requirements but you still desire to make use of the vertical space you have, then a plastic shelf bin might be better. These particular bins are designed so that you can access their contents without taking the entire bin out of its shelving. As you pull the bin towards yourself, it simply tilts out and the rear hangs securely onto the shelf.

As you can see, there are various types of plastic bins which are used for different purposes and I’m barely scratching the surface. Understand well what you intend to store – light or heavy items, small or bulky items, digestible or non-digestible, corrosive or non-corrosive, etc. Take the time to research for the right plastic bin for your storage needs and for your budget.
